Look in the stickies at the top of the forum section. There is a ton of info about scanners and opinions.

Check the code reader thread in General Tech Help:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...-%2A%2A-33347/

First decide whether you want a Code Reader (cheap) or a Scan Tool (from expensive to very expensive).

A simple Code Reader will allow you to read and clear Powertrain (Pxxxx) codes which covers the majority of regular issues arising with our vehicles.

If you have a droid phone download the TORQUE Pro app, like 5 bucks or so. Then go to EBAY and get the ELM blue tooth reader you plug into your OBDII port Bluetooth Mini ELM327 V1.5 OBD II OBD2 Auto Car Diagnostic Interface Scanner | eBay and you can pull codes on your own and google them. This app you can load MULTI cars. This app/reader also does give you some real time info. Temp, speed, rpm to name a few. With that set up you really never need to go to a dealer or car parts place again unless you need to pull codes from a transmission computer or the like.
