Default Refreshed Center Arm Rest

I recently had my center arm rest recovered and am happy with the results.

In fact, the outside looks so good, I decided to replace the interior of the rest, as well. Parts were surprisingly reasonable (new cubby box, coin insert, and catch bezel).

Before/After:

While doing this I also addressed a really annoying issue, the cup holder would pop open just by looking at it.

I wish I took pictures, but my fix was to modify the button. The problem was there was little contact between the button and the cupholder catch.

I took apart the top to get to the button. The button is 2 pieces with a spring clip that pushes it forward. I disassembled the button and shaved the tab by a few mm. This way the button pushes forward more to get a better latch with the cup holder.

Kind of a pain but not difficult and I really wish I took pics but I am very happy with the results. I used a thin coping saw and a file to trim the tab.

Best!

Default Refreshed Center Armrest

I'd like to have my center armrest refreshed as well. Seems the original owner had a heavy arm and the whole top is cracked and split. Perhaps it can be re-upholstered or replaced. I've been looking on ebay for Jaguar parts and there seems to be quite an abundance of parts including a few center armrests.

Here's a picture of the ugly thing.

I had the arm rest recovered as well as the A-Pillars, header, and sun visor (different thread). I also replaced the box cubby.

This was done by Lim's Auto Upholstery in Chantilly, VA.

Our armrest was also cracked and ugly. Replacing the whole console lid is very expensive and used ones only buy so much time, so I found this outfit to supply the new leather:

The match was perfect. Delivery was prompt. Fully satisfied!
