Remote old

My remote locking button is tired and is only working intermittantly. Is there any advice on cleaning contacts or other info that may get it working again?

Open the remote and clean all of the black residue thoroughly off the gold button contact areas on the circuit board with alcohol. Also clean the black rubber contact buttons.

I had one remote that had a couple stuck buttons. I used a can of spray MAF cleaner and blasted the crap out of the buttons on the circuit board. Works great now.

That works fine for the newer fobs (post 2000 I think), but the older fobs do not have the mechanical switches, but instead have conductive rubber buttons that contact a circuit board.
