Default Replacing AC compressor

Is there some trick to removing the old compressor? The only way I can see to get at it is to move the motor.

I replaced the compressor on my 97 XK and it was not a whole lot of fun but you do not need to move the motor to do it. You will need lots of patience and a fare amount of different size extensions. I do think that the one bolt I needed to go in from outside the frame rail. Don't forget to replace the dryer and if it broke apart internally you will want to do the expansion valve (that looked like a really big chore to me so I didn't do it since mine was just a bad clutch).

The A/C compressor comes out from under the car. As mentioned you will need several extensions for you socket set and a lot of patient you will need them both. Also as mentioned you will need to replace the dryer.
