Retrofit Alpine Amp

Retrofit Alpine Amp
Does anybody know if the Alpine amplifier can be retrofitted to a 1998 XK8 or XKR which has the standard radio/cassette with CD changer in the boot? Looking at the electrical wiring diagram, it seems like this should be possible. What I am less sure about is whether such an amp includes a DSP function (or did this get introduced in later models?). If so, how would this be configured - my car has the three dials in the middle and not the navi-screen.
By the way, where is the amp mounted - in the boot (above the CD player) or in the centre console (above the radio)?

Depends on the head unit.
Not sure whether Alpine was fitted to the early models (Harmon Kardon? - mine is), and there will be connector issues if the head, amp and CD don't all match.
The standard system is missing the door tweeters, fascia squawkers and the subwoofer. Make sure that the amp is for the appropriate car; they differ between coupe & convertible and have separate part numbers.

No DSP: just the usual bass/treble/fade/balance.
If all is good, just add the missing parts and flip the head unit switch as Johnken advises.
