Reusing Existing SatNav screen for Raspberry Pi?

I don't have a GPS module for this setup yet. I'm planning to get the Adafruit Ultimate GPS module at some point.

I did get a touch screen digitizer (in the photos above) which connects to the Raspberry Pi via USB and appears to the system just like another pointing device. Just need to get a virtual keyboard software running on the system and you're good to go...

Hi, I think the best solution is to integrate raspberry using the D2B protocol. Ideally, replace the module GPS navigator for raspberry do their duties and communicate via D2B. Thus the functionality of radio, amplifier, air conditioning, etc ... own car would take advantage.
This would require that Veffremov share his knowledge about the D2B protocol and how to use the Raspberry.

Perhaps true for the X type, but the XK8 and XKR do not utilize the optical D2B communication.

There are still RGB units available, Nav-Tv is one vendor that still carries them...
