Default Silver mesh speaker thingy on the A pillar?

As I was installing the wind deflector I noticed two silver mesh thingys that look like speakers. One is on the right side A pillar, the other one is on the right side just below the rear window and in front of the seat belt shoulder strap holder. What are they?

Interesting... Thanks. I wonder why they didn't just put a weight sensor in the seat.

Too simple, something the Americans would do. This is a Jaguar.

If I remember correctly, the sensors also detect distance from the air bag to the passenger, and adjust the airbag deployment if it is required.

On my car (03XK8) there is a light in the passemger side wood dash panelling (in the form or a Leaper I believe) that comes on if these sensors indicate that the passenger is out of position to safely deploy the air bag(s) - a bit more advance than just sensing that a person is sitting in the seat as a weight sensor would do.

yup, if you read into the safety features in the documentation, not only is the weight a consideration, but the height as well, in addition to the distance from the dash. Very complex...just more to go wrong I suppose.

Interesting! I've noticed that that light comes on when my wife is in... um... awkward positions.

that would be the height sensor, if I imagine the awkwardness correctly...

I have a pair of Brussels Griffons - tiny dogs, and its nice when they are riding in the car with me the Air Bags turn off.

Now if I could just get them to wipe their paws before climbing all over the ivory leather.

I HOPE that wasn't a reference to my wife. You can't even see the hole in that pic!

We Mods are going to have to start editing Sam's threads (or one's he contributes to) to include a PG, PG-13, or R rating in the title. That's correct sam, no XXX category as an option.

No!!! No kidding here! You should see the looks on the truckers faces! One trucker pulled out a camera real quick and I had to speed up. No telling where that pic would have ended up. LOL! Go to the last page or two of the "Girls on Cars" thread. Jim deleted the really good one, unfortunately.
