small coolant leak, looking for suggestions!
Hello to all, Hope your upcoming Holiday Season will be great for all...
I have a question/problem.
Small leak somewhere in the cooling system, I have replaced the spider or medusa hose and most others. I have a small intermittent dime size leak at front center maybe a little left of engine. The leak is intermittent sometimes 1, 2 maybe three dime /nickel size drops sometime no drops. I know I could take the car in for a pressure test but just really don't want to see any more mechanics right now, I'm just plain tired of them!(it's the holiday season !). I mean no offense to any mechanics.
Anyway my question is what about a coolant system sealer such as Bars coolant leak sealer or BG products (which one in particular) or other better quality product. Is there such a thing? Does it work ? What about future problems with gunking up the coolant system or other problems. Should I stay away from such a product or just live with a few dime size drop? Any suggestions or ideas would be great and I thank you in advance. I realize the easy way is not usually the best, but sometimes not so bad. Is this one of them or not? Thanks
Happy Holidays and remember

I have used Bars Leak in the past on older cars with some success. However, these were iron block autos with little value, so I had nothing to lose. Jag V8s are VERY heat sensitive and still retain value. I would not recommend it.
Find the source of the leak before it turns into a bigger problem.

I believe you can borrow the pressure test gear at many auto parts stores.
No to Sealant.
The leak could easily be the water pump or thermostat housing, not a difficult or expensive repair.

Ok, Thank you guys that's kinda what I thought but needed your input to secure the message in my brain.
Off to the shop this week I guess.
The easy way is never the right way.
Bah hum bug!

You might be able to add a UV liquid to your coolant and find it that way. I have also traced down small vehicle leaks by cleaning surfaces and using spray on antiperspirant... Best of luck!
