Default So many codes and problems, just bought a 2000xkr

Hello everybody, so I found a actron scanner I had, it’s a actron 9690 and it read the codes. If we can add that to the odb list that would be cool. So 6 codes total,
P0455 evaporative emission system leak detected(Gross leak/ No flow) confirmed.
P1000 system check not completed since last memory cleared Pending
P0455 again this time with no confirm or pending
P1260 Security input
P1517 Park and neutral starting malfunction
P1571 Brake switch malfunction
When driving the vehicle home after purchase check engine light came on Failsafe mode turned on, I got off freeway and rest for 10 minutes and drove back home like 100 miles, I bought it from Bakersfield to Los Angeles.
I had my emergency lights on and drove 50 mph all the way home. Also the fuel guage is stuck in the middle even after I filled up and won’t move. The seller said nothing was wrong with the car and even showed me smog check papers from 2/10/2023 so I’m stuck. I called asking if I can return the car he said he already process the sell online. I know I deserved it, I should have test drive it longer. The car still starts and drive but I’m completely stumped, car drives very slow. I’m taking it to a mechanic and was wondering if this would cost me a arm and a leg? I’m not too mechanic savvy but I can try to fix something if it’s not too complicated and leave the expert stuff to the mechanic. Thanks everybody for reading and any input is appreciated.

Giving false information to induce a sale is fraud here in UK. I could have taken him to court on line and judge rules over the phone ..he pays.
If it was a dealer do you not have a short warranteee like 1 month.
Sure someone will come on and sort your codes.

Yes, there must be some kind of "lemon law" or default warranty in the first month or so. Whoever sold it to you must be some kind of crook to get a clean inspection with all those issues. The P1000 alone won't pass around here. If it was a private individual, I dunno. Guido might have to make a visit.

Depending on how much you paid those faults can all be fixed. You do need to be able to perform much of the work yourself. But leave the heavy lifting to a Jaguar mechanic and not some general auto mechanic. These are complicated animals.

It was from a private seller. I already transfer the title to my name. I’m reading most threads relating to those codes and I’m determined to do most of these fixes myself. Besides the evac code, I think the Failsafe and restricted mode is caused by the brake light switch I hope. I will continue my discussion on those threads as to not break fourms rules.

P0455 can be as simple as a bad gasket on the filler cap///

I have had most of the codes you are experiencing. One thing that can help you would be to download a copy of the workshop manual. The manual will give you a step by step guide to diaginose these codes. I got mine on eBay but I believe you can download it on this forum. These cars do need to be driven and some of these issues may resolve themselves. This is a long shot but a weak electical system can cause these codes. I would just check the condition of the battery and the altenator to eliminate that possible problem.

If you clear codes the Evap emission test will not be performed with a full tank of gas, and it will need two failed tests before the engine lights comes on. And it will not force the car into safe mode.
I suspect that the biggest fault is the brake switch.
Buy a new filler cap as Pistnbroke suggest and a new brake light switch. And see if that helps.
If you freak out and/or think this will be to expensive, then Jag is not the car for you :-)

Battery Test.
When its been standing overnight measure the battery voltage ..below 12.5 is suspicious put a battery charger on it as the very least. remember the dash voltmeter is a fake gauge and will read 13v even when the battery is 14.3v
Alternator .
With the engine at 2000rpm the voltage should rise to about 14.3v ..stays down at 12.x alternator no good
