All,

Was getting new tires put on and the wheels aligned when installer noticed L/F bearing needed replacing. The non-jag dealer is my client so I asked if they could handle it. They said yes, no big deal, and ordered the part. Part comes in and they dive into the bearing. It seems that could not remove the brake sensor (or some brake assembly part that was in the way of getting to the bearing). Upon calling the Jag dealer they are informed that there is a special tool remove the brake mechanism and that only they have it and are not giving it up or selling it.

Anybody run into this problem and can I get around the dealer...or should I suck it up and go have the dealer do it. Its just a simple bearing...or so I thought.

If they are hung up on the notion of needing the factory tool, perhaps they could take the displaced upright assembly to the dealer and pay them to replace the bearing. Shouldn't take much, if you have a couple days to wait you can send it to me and get it done for alot less than the cost of the tool.
