Default Stability Control Fail

97 XK8

My "Stability Control Fail" warning and ABS light came on recently. They are both on all the time. I know I need to replace my pads and rotors as they started squeaking a few weeks ago. This happened on my 89 XJ6 a while back and when I replaced the pads, a through cleaning of the wheel sensor took care of the dash warning. Could a build up of gunk on the ABS sensor have triggered this warning on the XK8? However, I was under the impression that Jaguar did away with the wheel sensors for ABS. Advice please.

Thanks,

You do have ABS wheel sensors on the XK8, and they can get dirty. This might give you the DSC & ABS failure messages, but not the only cause for them. Try cleaning the sensors, and clean their electrical connections as well. If you are in luck, that will solve the problem. (it worked for me)For other causes do a search on the forum.
