Starting / Power issue.
My 1999 XKR has an issue when starting which I would appreciate some advice with, when I try to start the car it basically just clicks when I turn the key but once I connect my jump starter and boost it the car starts straight away no problems.
The battery is brand new.
I changed the Alternator for a reconditioned one after the garage tested the battery when it was running which read 12.5.
The starter motor must be okay as it starts fine once boosted.
Has anyone else had the same issue or can you suggest something else I could check?

It's also worth checking the condition of the cables 'while you're in there' - make sure they don't get hot when you attempt a start.
Some have had issues with loose connections to the 'high power protection module' in the boot. See this thread from ccfulton:

I thought I would give you and any future readers an update.
I checked and cleaned the battery clamps along with the high power connection modue and all was good.
Tested the new battery 11.57 volts but after charging it was 13.17 volts.
Tested the old battery 11.50 volts which was 12.47 volts after charging so not as knackered as I thought.
Put the new battery on the car turned the key and she fired up straight away so I tested the Alternator with the car running which came out at 14.41 volts so thats fine.
It could have been a mixture of charging the brand new battery and cleaning the connectors but it shows you that relatively simple things can make a big difference, it's also amazing how quickly a battery can be drained.
Thank you again for your help.
