Supercharger oil change VIDEO?
As I go through my 2002 XKR... just purchased... 57k miles... there seems to be a conflict as to whether the supercharger oil SHOULD or SHOULD NOT be replaced. Do we have a consensus yet?
If the consensus is to CHANGE, is there something more than a 3-minute video that shows the process? I see that it needs a syringe and a tube and small hands, but before I do the deed is there such a video out there? Also, I get it, there doesn't seem to be much to it outside of sucking the old stuff out and putting the new stuff in, I'd just like to SEE it done.
Finally, there seems to be a kit out there available in the UK for just such a job. Is there a US source?
Thanks to all.

I don’t see the advantage to leaving crap oil in the supercharger snout ?
after 60,000 miles since the last change of my 2002 XKR supercharger oil I changed it . What was once clear and thin oil was now thick and black as molasses.
I call that used up 100%.
I now change it every 30,000 miles and it looks much better, only a dark golden color.
i don’t know of any videos. There are many threads on the forum how to do it.
Buy two 4 oz containers of GM supercharger oil. You will use about 6.5 to 7 oz of it iirc.

As to whether it's worth doing - given that your oil is now 22 years old and has gone through multiple cycles of cold and baking while spinning in blades at 18,000 rpm, the real question is why wouldn't you change it?
If you didn't need to change the supercharger oil, then you also wouldn't need to change the differential oil or the gearbox oil, which is fine if you want a car that only lasts 100k miles.

Costs 20 bucks- takes 20 minutes. You may as well change the oil. I did mine the other day and I feel really good about it, and the idle noise from the supercharger is noticeably quieter.

Kit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/111358311078
This is the kit I used. You want some paper towels, two red solo cups (or measuring cups), and small tubing. The black tube that comes with the kit does not bend enough to make an "L" shape and suck the oil from the bottom. I grabbed the smallest tubing at my local hardware store in the plumbing section. I got about half a cup out, so I know it wasn't everything but I plan on changing it again in about 10k miles or so.
The Method
(1,2 optional but makes way easier. do this on a flat surface.)
1. Unclip top of hood struts to open the hood fully
2. Zip tie coolant hose out of the way
3. Unscrew little fill bolt
4. Suck out oil with syringe and hose attached. leave the hose in the hole it makes it much easier!
5. Put used oil in cup and then fill other cup to same amount with fresh oil.
6. Suck fresh oil out of cup and deposit into fill hole. Some people fill until it spills out of the hole.
7. Re-screw bolt back in (no thread locker needed)
8. Cut zip tie and attach top struts again and done!
