Default Supercharger sucks and Engine misfires

1998 XKR 115000 miles. Low on petrol but enough to drive to garage - low fuel light comes on with 2 miles to go - misfire at junction and then stalls and refuses to start. Petrol can - car starts but misfires to extent that can't engage drive without cutting out. Supercharger sounds like it's being strangled and low fuel light comes on even though their is petrol in the tank. Any thoughts much appreciated. John

How old is your fuel filter? You may have dredged up some of the gunk in the bottom of your tank and clogged your fuel filter sufficiently enough to shut off all fuel going through it....

Clogged/fried fuel pump? I have read in past posts that the fuel pump/pumps are actually lubricated by the petrol in the fuel tank.

I rarely ever let my fuel get below 1/4.

It may have sucked in the seals where the plenum bolts to the supercharger. Had that happen once and it sounds as you described. It is an easy fix thankfully.

It was the seals on the supercharger - obviously rubber costs more than gold from Jaguar but all sorted now - cheers for all the help. John
