Is the TCM the same for both the 2000 XKR and the 2000 XK8? Or are they the same piece, but with different programming? A friend has failures in the TCM and beyond losing gears, at certain temperatures (he has to pull over, wait a few minutes and then restart to get moving)- he is also losing his DTC. Word from several Jag . techs is new TCM needed. Would it be better to send it out and have it rebuilt or pick up used one off Ebay? (*********** has ridiculous charges).

Prior to 2003, the Transmissions are completely different, the XK8 uses a ZF Transmission and the XKR uses a Mercedes Transmission. Different TCMs.
