tensioner tip!
I bought a set of new metal secondary chain tensioners, intending to swap them out over the Christmas break; only to find when I lifted the cam covers that they had already been done!
The moral of the story being of course that one shouldn't assume that they automatically need doing - they may have been taken care of by a previous owner........ In the meantime I'm going to list these in the for sale section, as I don't need them; £65 including UK postage, save yourself a couple of quid!
Cheers,
John

But.....did they replace just the top end....and the angel of death lies below just waiting to !!!!!!! High mileage engines without the full upgrade is a repair bill you just don't wanna have.
Nope, close inspection (hurray for fibre optics etc) reveals that it was all done. Lucky me; although discussions with my local (franchised) Jaguar senior tech. indicate that they have never had a problem with lower (primary)tensioners. Secondary ones, on the other hand.. They have dealt with a lot of V8s too, plenty of them in this neck of the woods.
Hmmmm, Your Jag Tech needs to have a read of this thread....
