Default timing chain cover removal

I have a 1999 xk8. I am in the process of removing the left hand timing cover in order to replace the gaskets since they are leaking. After removing the coil packs and loosening the timing cover bolts, the cover is loose but refuse to come off. It appears that on my model, there is a sensor that is keeping the cover from coming off. That sensor is located near the front-center of the timing cover. I believe their are two wires going to in. I don't see how to remove it.
Question:
What is this sensor? and how does one remove it from the timing cover?
I have watched the video clips on this forum but I have not seen this sensor before, maybe it's only on the '99??
Thanks,
Ron

That's the VVT, disconnect the plug and lift the cover up, there is only an O ring holding it
