Default Tire Size Change

I need to put new tires on my 2000 convertible with 17 inch lamina wheels. Wanting to keep the car as stock as possible I plan on keeping the wheels. Because of the limited selection in the stock tire size 245/50/17 I am thinking of switching to 235/55/17 or 255/50/17.

The car currently has 245/45/17 and I want a taller tire.

Any feedback or running the different sizes will be helpful.

I'd use something like this:
https://tiresize.com/calculator/
To sort out what you want. Find out how many revs pr mile your standard tire does, then stay within 2-3% of that number for your alternative tire.
Regards,

I´ve changed from the (OEM) 245/50/17 Pirellis to 255/45/17 Dunlop Sport Maxx two years ago.....
Looks better, drives better and ......cheaper.
