Default Transmission does not know it is in Parkone of many

More frequently than not these days, my 97 makes the staccato warning noise when placed in Park. It is in Park, but the car does not seem to know it. It has become more than a minor annoyance at this point.

Quick fix, or a major hassle?

Thanks!

Sometimes when I quickly push her into park and try to get key out fast i get the ding ding warning. This is always fixed with a very tiny push to the right which gets the gear selector in perfect park position.

This tells me there is a microswitch monitoring position.

I told you that story to try to get a better handle on what you are dealing with. Could you tell us more about exactly what is happening?

Thanks john
