Default Transmission Fluid Hose - Replacement without Trans Removal

Hey all, I have a leak somewhere in the hose. Has anyone been able to, or have had a shop that was able to replace the hose without removing the transmission?

It may depend on which car you have, the 4.2 looks doable by removing the CAT.

Look at the pics in the thread down the page.

I just tried to seal my leak last night (join between rigid and flexible parts) using tiger seal, I will find out later if it has worked.

When taking the transmission out I have to disconnect the hoses first, so I can't think of a reason why you should have a problem removing the hose to replace it.

The hoses have a o-ring seal, so make sure that isn't the source of the leak before you replace the hose.

Hi Scott,
Looks like you may be the guinea pig on this. I need to do mine as PM so not as pressing (yet) as yours.

The 5HP trans has inlet and outlet on opposite sides, so there's one line that goes across the top. I can't see any way to get to it without dropping the exhaust. JTIS is silent on the R&R procedure.

Alldata quotes 2 hours labour (no description of how) for the supply line and 1.9 for the return so, if the figures are to be believed, they must come out without dropping the trans. I really need to get on to a lift to look properly.

Hope yours turns out to be the easy fix.

Good luck,
Mike
