Default Trunk lid is dead- lights and button

Tried search but did not find anything.
01 xk8 rag top.
1st off the 3rd brake light was out with a crack. Got a used one and that is when i realized nothing on the trunk works.
It needs an inspection so that is what got me here.
The license lamps and the 3rd brake light and the push button on the trunk is not working..
You would think the wire connector was unpluged.. Looked at the grounds - all good. Replace the license lamps too.
Not sure if i have 1 or multi roblems..
All other lamps work fine...
Thanks for any feed back..

The wires in the loom at the right hand trunk hinge have broken.

Common problem.

You can either split the harness and repair and tape up the wires as a dealer would do or pull the wires out of the loom and repair them and pull them back through the loom (the right way).
