Default Turns over but will not start

I have a 2001 jaguar xj8 convertable with 125.000 miles. Battery went dead charged battery car turns over but will not start. Have fuel pressure. this happened before and i found a web site that explained how to reprogram the key to the ignition by putting in door lock then to ignition and turning the key. When I did this the car started. Another time I disconnected the battery and it worked please note my key fob works fine my doors and windows go up and down. I hear my fuel pump come on. My battery is fully charged. My dash lights all come on my car turns over and over any help as stated earlier I found a site on this forum and it referred me to how to reprogram the key to the ignition and it worked. I just cannot find the site

David,

(I assume the 'xj8' is a typo unless you have one of the very rare convertible X308's)

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X100 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

You can reprogam a REMOTE FOB yourself but it takes dealer level diagnostics to program an IGNITION KEY to the vehicle.

From your description, it is not a key program issue preventing the vehicle from starting.

Graham
