Has anybody replaced their undertray/valance recently - or am I the only one who has that part beaten up often? It happened twice within the last 2 months already - once on my way to mass, the church driveway has a little dip, and the other just this weekend when there's a slight bump on a restaurant's driveway .....

Is it a straightforward DIY-type work or do I need special tooling for it?

There's also a rubber strip at the bottom that seems to get stripped easily. The strip does not seem to do anything except provide a few inches of 'buffer' before the plastics - or does it?

 

I think its a DIY job. But the part is probably expensive. It think it is a very hard fiberglass. (kinda like the piece on top of the radiator)

try using a upholstery clip remover to pry it out. if that doesn't work a body shop will have the 10$ tool

My car looks like it is 4 inches off the ground, so ive always wanted to lower it. But every time I smash this valance on a parking block I remind myself that Its good to not be too low.

 

I need one too and I found it for $130 at Parts.com.

 

I just finished doing this. (See this thread for why: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=40419) You won't be able to reuse the rivets, so make sure you head to NAPA, etc. for some generic ones (the Jaguar ones are difficult to source and expensive). I used these . The tray is pretty easy to put in. I've never damaged this tray in normal driving, but I'm used to driving low vehicles. Here is a tip: enter driveway dips at an angle for far fewer problems.

On my second valence, I scraped the rubber piece and it detached...just pulled the whole damn thing off after re-glueing it was frivilous!

 

The fastener that they call a scrivit is availavle at Lowes in many sizes, and they are pretty rugged. If you are having trouble getting them to hold you might want to drill the hole a little larger and get the bigger push pins. That is what I did to my door panals. It made a nice job.
