I just had a closer look at the upper arm bushes as I am swapping back from poly to OEM type, I had previously assumed that they were metalastic like the lower bushes but I thought it strange that there was no mention to torque them up only when in the neutral suspension position like the lower bushes.
Instead it looks like they have a bearing surface between the metal inner shell of the rubber part and the tube through which the fulcrum bolt goes. So once the fulcrum bolt is torqued, it, the integrated large washer and the tube are static and the rubber/shell part rotates around them. You can see traces of grease between the large our washer and the rubber parts in the picture.
Just had a look in the manual and it calls them "slipflex bushes".
I ended up buying the aftermarket ones from DMG, hope I don't come to regret that.
RD, I wondered about that myself when I replaced my uppers, you are correct the fulcrum bolt maintains the torque spec with the inner spacers, the bushing itself has no load.
