Default Valet button

What does it do and can it malfunction? If it can what is the likely problem when it does malfunction.

You should have a green top "valet" key which you give to the Valet when they park the car.. When you press the Valet button the green key will only unlock the drivers door and start the car. All other locks, trunk, etc are disabled until the regular key is used again.

I use it when I park my Jag with the top down. Deactivates the dash trunk ( boot) switch. Nice feature.

There's a phrase I NEVER use on the forum ........

....... but I very nearly made an exception here.

The only issues I've seen posted are when the switch sticks and doesn't release properly. If this happens, the normal disengagement when opening the vehicle with the remote or black headed key doesn't work and it stays in valet mode.

I've never used a valet key as the chances of me handing over my car and keys to an unknown spotty youth to park it for me are zero.

Hadn't thought about this use for the valet switch setting in a convertible.

great idea for top down alarm off, but just arming alarm does same thing.
