Default valet mode?

not sure if mine is working right
2003 xkr

trunk pops with use of dash trunk open switch, hit valet switch and it wont. Disarm valet by using black ket in trunk lid
you hear a click when you push the button in the center of the trunk but the trunk wont pop open - this is what I am trying to fix - it does not open my trunk

ideas?

Someone said wiring by hinge - to check that?
I had a 95 eith this issue, you mean JAG still hasnet fixed this wirinig issue?

In my 02 the black key will open the trunk regardless of whether the valet mode has been selected

What does the manual say? I know that using the black key in the ignition or the remote cancels valet mode. It may be that the black key in the trunk opens the trunk but doesn't cancel valet mode by design.

I don't think the trunk lock sends any electronic signals to the body processor module to indicate which key was used. So even if you use the black key in the trunk the car will still be in valet mode and the button on the trunk won't open it.

agree with Reverened, valet won't be released until you key the ignition with the black key, or lock and unlock again w/ remote. I've done this accidentally myself (valeted myself out of the boot)...doh!

I only have the black key, so that would explain why my Valet switch appears to do nothing. Thanks... now I get it

Must have been a change in the 03. My 02 the black key when opening the trunk in valet mode disables valet mode and allows the button to work
