Smile VIN Plate elsewhere?

Hi XK8 experts,
I have a 2002 UK registered XK8 and I'm looking for the VIN plate.

Several sources suggest it's near the striker plate on the nearside door pillar, but here I just see a Jaguar sticker. Should I be concerned at this?

The book talks about the left-hand side front door hinge post but I don't see anything there.

I don't see anything around the battery.

Many thanks for advice!

Check along the bottom of the windscreen, left side on my US cars.

Same on UK RHD vehicles (arrowed in red):

The printing on the door label does wear off but start to get suspicious if the metal VIN tag isn't clearly visible though the windscreen.

Sometimes the windshield VIN plate is obscured during a windshield replacement if the installer is not careful with the adhesive. Since it is black it blends in visually with the black field at the lower skirt of the windshield. Look closely and you will see the window in the glass at the base.

It should be stamped into the boot floor. I think it's on the shelf part on the lhs as you look into the boot. Also in there you should find the vcats label containing vin number and module numbers.
unless the boot has been replaced/crashed into. .

FWIW, barring any ability to locate a physical instance, the VIN number should be available over the diagnostic connector. A cheap ELM327 with TorquePRO should be able to decode it...
