Default Water in headlights. Not just moisture!! Argh!!!

I had my XK8 detailed and when I got it home, I found water, not just mist, in the headlights. It literally was rolling around in the lens.

I took off the plastic lids and let them sit in sun to dry out. When I went back,I was horrified to see that the beautiful gloss black finish in the interior now has stains where the water dried. Looks terrible.

I noticed when I removed the clear lids that I had a tab missing on each one. They were still quite difficult to release but when I put them back, that didnt "snap" into place. I'm guessing this is the problem.

He did clean the engine bay and I'm sure water entered through these access areas since I've never had water from regular washing the exterior.

Now I'm going to have to replace the lenses. I do have my original set that I heated and took apart to body color match the interior so I guess I may finish them and replace for now. They have some road rash on the glass, that's why I never finished, opting for new factory black interiors. But they were over 500.00 the pair.

I guess I can take the new set apart and do the same but that was, excuse the term, a MAMOTH BITCH!!!!

Where can I get new clear access lids? With new seals.

Looking on jaguarparts.com, they appear to be like 12$ each. I'd replace them, and if the moisture issue persists, I'd vent them by putting a small plastic vacuum elbow into the cover. Just drill and epoxy. That way it can vent, but the elbow should prevent water from getting in via that.

Excellent- I have the same issue, even after replacing my fender liner panel on the passenger (LHD) side. I appreciate the tips!
