Default Water Pump

So we just got our new XK8 in Feb of this year
Purchased through a dealer in Pennsylvania, we live in Illinois
Just prior to the car being shipped the dealer decided to change the water pump
After a trip of 2000 mile in May we go it a lower coolant light, turns out bad pump.
Local import car shop discovered and changed in May
In the last week or so coolant leak
Same shop called today..bad water pump

That means I will have had three pumps on this car since Feb

What are the odds or is there something wrong with the car which could cause this problem

2002 XK8

I think they are buying the cheapest pump available. If you do a search you will find which pumps the forum members have used.

I purchased a pump from Coventry West, but I sold the car a couple of months later. I haven't heard of any problems from the buyer yet.

So I got the car back Thursday from the shop, they indicated it was a bad pump.
Covered under warranty, only two months old.
Took out for a 4 hour dive on Friday, parked in the drive.
Later that day I moved it into the garage, what to I find on the drive but a coolant spot .
Next morning no leaks, added 8 oz. Only leaks after a drive
Call the shop, confused
At this point it can not be a bad third pump can it?
I am just a dumb old carpenter and need some advise

Welcome to the forum Scuba Steve,

Is it definitely leaking from the pump and if so, is it from the mating face or the shaft? After the second one I'd have begun to look for other possible causes.
