Default What is it called and where to find it? (A-post interior?)

Is the post at the edge of the windshield the "A-post"?
Came out to my '03 XK8 ragtop this morning and the interior panel that covers that post (passenger side) was hanging loose. Had the car valet parked yesterday, that's the only thing I can think of, but it was dark when I picked up the car and I didn't notice.
To add self-inflicted insult to injury, in trying to put it back into place I broke one of the plastic clips.

So - what is this thing actually called so I can try to find a replacement?
Or is it worth trying to epoxy some new plastic bits on to act as a new clip?

Yes, that's the A-post.
Do you have the bits that broke off?
If so, you can glue them back on with something like this:

It's the stuff plumbers use to join plastic pipes, and it works a treat with ABS, which is most likely what the cover is made from.

HTH,
Mike

I believe it is C2N2927LFJ (LFJ being gray). Not 100% sure. That part shows discontinued but I suspect you can source it.

Thanks both of you. I'm going to see if I can find all the plastic bits (there are at least two) and try gluing it first.

BobRoy in Sacramento has several parts cars currently. There are also several in the LA and San Diego area on craigslist. My guess is that you can source the clips, or even the hole A pillar part.

The trim that goes down the inside is called the A-post finisher. (item 3)

For LHD models with oatmeal trim, the P/N's are:

LH: HJA2123ABAGD
RH: HJE2122BCAGD

This joins to the A-post trim below (item 4)

Rather illogical by Jaguar as most of us would name them the other way round.

I believe those parts are for the early cars, where the part I listed above is for the 4.2's (2003+).

Use a small section of Velcro to hold it in place so it can be removed if necessary.

I was able to put the bits back together (JB-Kwik FTW) and fit it all back properly.
Thanks all.

Interesting--I wanted to get the same part C2N2927LFJ since the fabric is getting puffy. Stupidly I bought a replacement for the driver's side a year ago or so and figured I could get the passenger side later when I needed one but it seems this has now been discontinued and NOBODY has it. I guess when I get the time I will have to pull off the material, clean off the foam, and then reglue it down.
