Default What wheels are these?

I am in the process of buying an XKR (I will create a thread on that when it's here) and I don't care for the wheels on the car. It needs tires as well, so why not get what I want, right?

So, what wheels are these, so that I can do a semi-educated search? (image stolen from another thread) I assume that they are the 18" size. which I prefer for ride comfort.

Those are called Double 5. What didn't you like about the ride quality on the convertibles with 20" wheels? My XKR with CATS and 20" Detroits is more comfortable than the coupe I had with Double 5s.

Thanks @dibbit. Mostly I don't like the look of the 20s. The ride, generally speaking, is better on 18" with a taller (and softer) sidewall than on a comparable 20". And tires are cheaper.

I found some used wheels, in 18" from the XK8. Can I assume that anything off of an XK8 will fit? I know the brakes are different on the "R" but that doesn't always mean bigger.

Current wheel, picture from seller. It looks like there is gobs of space between the calipers and wheels... 18" should be OK.

Let me know if these come up for sale...

With the big brakes, you have a limited amount of choices in 18". The Hydra style works for sure (This is what I have). Even some 19" do not work, like the Apollo style. I think the subject of these double fives came up before as not compatible with the Brembo calipers. This is a matter of space the way you think (is the wheel big enough) but also how much clearance there is behind the spokes...

For sub-20" wheels it looks like you need BBS-made wheels to clear those calipers; the 18" Milans that came on the XJR with the Brembo brakes are also made to fit, and I have a set of those on my XKR with the standard brakes.

Here's how they look on the XJR with those brakes in place:

As you can see it's all about how the spokes and hub leave more room in a way that the standard 18" double-fives do not.

In the imaged borrowed from another thread it appears the car is an XKR. Louvered hood? So I'll assume the owner was able to drive it to the gas station on those wheels. I like them too. I have what I'll call double 7's for lack of an official name. I'm looking for one of each in 8" wide and 9" wide x 18" as I, like a real dumb a$$ curbed the right side. Argaaaarrrrrrgggg!! TM
