Default Windows not going up on covertible

The hydraulic hoses for the rams are starting to leak, and one did break. The Jag shop was able to raise the top manually and they said they deactivated the switch so it wouldn't work. The quarter windows were up and everything was great. (car is going in Tuesday to have the four hoses replaced). As luck would have it the switch on the console got tapped while cleaning the car yesterday and the quarter windows retracted. But the switch won't bring them back up. Obviously the shop is closed. Any idea on what they did to "deactivate" the switch (obviously noy fully deactivated) so I can get the windows to come back up???

Since they were able to raise the windows initially it is safe to assume that the system of checks and balances has been performed by the car and that it knows the top is latched etc....no msg's saying anything to the contrary.

If the roof and hyd system was deactivated and not sure how they did that you should be able to just push the close button or use the key and the windows should go up.

This might help http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairH...lOperation.htm

Only thing I could think of was they pulled a fuse or something and now the windows aren't getting the response they need to say the top is latched in order for them to close

Read my notes from the link I provided. The windows will not go up until the rams for the roof and the front latch are in the closed position and only then will they close.

Everything is fine with the rams etc. Like I sad the shop was able to manually raise the roof and closed the back windows so everything was good. The switch was tapped just enough to activate the auto down. I will try the key in the door when i get home to see if the windows will raise that way..if not I wont worry about it since it goes in Tuesday..and damn those little hoses are expensive..more so than the the long ones to the header

Ok figured it out....with the disconnecting of the pump and the loosening of the petcock on the pump the rams had relaxed just enough that the windows wouldn't or couldn't be triggered to raise. Once I gently moved the ram ...bingo... Thanks again Gus for the phone call..
