Default My first Jaguar, 97 Coupe

This was built the year I graduated high school and lived about 20 miles away from the factory.

First picture shows our love of English cars!!

On the XK8 I put on a Mina Performance air filter/Intake and rear silencer delete kit, which makes it sound a bit more like a V8.

I prefer verts but I must say the white coupe from the side rear is a beauty.

Default Rescued Jag

I was surfing Craigslist about 5 months ago, minding my own business when I spotted a 1997 XK8 with 32K miles and in need of a fresh coat of paint. I had no intention of buying it but at $3500 I took a chance. Glad I did.

Mods & upgrades:
Porsche 911 Sapphire Metallic Blue re-spray $2800
19" Monarch Wheels & Nexen tires $800 (Thanks again Craigslist!)
Forever Black top dye job $20
Mina Galleries Cold Air Intake $120 & Grill insert $280
Bullet mufflers replaced aft mufflers $250

Had a Champaign XK8 like that and it was very pretty but the paint was in far better condition. Didn't care for the interior though. The new blue is stunning, hell of a price on the paint job, my wrap cost more than that. Nice work!! (though I'd go black on the interior now, but the white isn't really that bad).

Wow! The difference is stunning. The old paint job looked like garbage. Love the new color. Good investment. What year Porsche?

Nice looking wheels. What size? Did you tint ALL the windows? What level of tint?

As I bought it:

And now, with clear side indicators and reflectors, semi-gloss wheels

The wheels are MRR Ground force GF6's fronts are 19x8.5 and rear are 19x9.5 with an extra offset so they fill the wheel well better.
If the tint question was for me the tint on there is about to get redone with the same level which is 35% all round, only for cars with the light interior though as black interior will make it look too dark.

I like those wheels, the reason I chose the ones I now have is I had seen some factory ones that looked a little like them. I really like how the wheels I have are dished on the rear so you can tell there is a difference between them and the front wheels.

Do you happen to know what that kit is on your car? I really like that style. Is it stock on the XKR?

Interesting comment on the tint. I'm torn between mirrored or dark tint. My interior is black and exterior is silver. Don't know why this is such a conundrum for me. I've tinted 3 cars at 35% so far.

It is my personal opinion that matte 3M tint is the best by a long way, I have never liked the reflective tint, but that was because when I worked in a tint shop it was always the reflective tint that gave us problems. You can also go darker with the matte as it is more subtle.

It is factory, I think on the 2005 and later cars

2005 XKR, 44,000 miles, CA car. 19" Coventry Whitleys on order. Needs new upper strut pads, and a few small dents removed. It also needs a new headliner, I intend to replace the headliner, A pillars and rear shelf with ultra shade.
Looks it'll be a busy winter...
Regards,
White Bear.
