X100 Adaptive Shock (XKR) Stock Refurbishing
Like many others here the thought of spending north of $400/shock to find and pay for new Bilstein adaptive shocks for our XKRs is out of the question. So I thought that there must a firm in the suspension industry how has the ability to rebuild/refurbish our old shocks. I searched and found Delta Vee Motorsports who rebuilds a number of Bilstein shocks/struts for hi-end vehicles (e.g. Ferrari). They are certified by Bilstein to rebuild their shocks I believe. I know someone recently contacted them I think and were told they did not refurbish our XKR shocks. I contacted them anyway to see if I could change their mind. I spoke with Rob (contact info below) and he said he had recently been contacted about working on the Bilstein adaptive shocks and wanted to take a deep dive and look at the possibility of taking on this product line.
After working closely with Rob (Delta Vee Motorsport) and sending him numerous images of the shocks (he especially needed to get a close up look at the electrical connection at the top of the shock rod). After working this project through the company he gave a Not- to-Exceed cost of $550 for the pair. Below is his contract info for those interested. Certainly much cheaper than buying new.
Rob:
“I'd estimate cost to be a maximum of $550 (that's the Ferrari adjustable system service fee). It's likely to be tech that's in the current Damptronic systems.

So it’s $800 for a new pair vs $550 for a rebuilt pair.
I don’t know that the $250 difference would be enough to make me go with the rebuilt shocks and the inconvenience of sending them off and waiting who knows how long for them to be returned. That’s a close call.
