Default XK(R) Console Lid question.......

Guys/Gals, I have a curious question. I have seen a few other preowned XK cars along with mine whereas the padding under the Console Lid is or has started to buckle due to the material underneather the leather material. Is there any TSB's or any warranty backing these lids?

Wishful thinking, but I would think (possibly hope) Jaguar should have possibly identified and correctled this problem via their warranty?

I just was curious and thanks again everyone!

there's a thread in the xk8 area, where you can remove the lid, take it apart, replace the 'foam' padding underneath, including the little cup holder lid, and re-glue it back on. Mine did this and I fixed it as such. Just need some upholstery glue...the very sticky stuff in a can that comes out looking like snot.

I realize that I might have VERY wishful thinking here, but since the waving pattern of the form underneath the leather is cause by the deterioration of the material itself, shouldn't that be a warrantable item? It is a known issue. Any thoughts?

I would think this would be categorized as a 'wear' item just like wiper blades, brakes, upholstery, etc. so the warranty angle is unlikely.

It would likely be an uphill battle, but the foam literally deteriorates to dust...this should not happen after 5 years.

no its not warranty and I can tell you that Jaguar has gotten very strict on leather and trim repairs. Wear on seats steering wheels etc...
