xk8 2000 new top timing chain tensioners
xk8 2000 mileage 95,000
I changed the plastic tensioners ,both badly cracked, for metal ones using the cable tie system. On the left hand side every thing is OK the chain is in tension top and bottom. However on the right the chain is in tension at the bottom but slightly slack at the top. I know the chain has not moved from it's correct position on the cam sprocket every thing at the moment is tightened down firmly but not torque up. is it possible that the cam shaft is slightly out of position ? and manually turning the engine slightly will correct the problem if so how do I turn the engine.
Regards

The tensioners are hydraulically operated. The new tensoners will not put adequate pressure on the chain until the engine is turned over and there is oil pressure.
As long as the engine was running properly before you started the replacement, your timing should be fine.
Just a reminder though, remove the fuel injection relay and crank the engine over a few times before starting the engine for the first time so the tensioners will pressurize. Not doing this risks having the chain skip one or more sprockets on first startup.
