XK8 Conv: How tall are you? re: Comfort
I'm 6"5", 280lbs, it's tight (my wife's RX-8 really puts the squeeze on me). I have removed my back seat which gives me another 1/2 inch leg room, but I find that if I tilt the drivers seat toward the rear I get a little more room. Now my size 15 shoes are another issue.
6' 4" Still hit the wipers once in a while and have actually hit the ignition and shut off the car, popped the trunk and gas door a couple of times. But have driven it a 1000 miles and felt good after driving that distance, not worn out like our Ford Explorer does.
These post are great to read because I am starting to shop for my first Jaguar with a fiancé 6'4 -#238 who thinks he is too big for the car. I know at this point it will take both of us shopping to ensure a comfortable fit for him. My question to anyone within this height; do you find the 1st or 2nd generation of the XK8/XKR to be more accommodative than another and if so could you provide the year and model of your vehicle. I am guessing that there seems to be less room in 2nd generation (2006-present) CATS due to design changes (am I correct?)
The car will be pretty much my toy but I don't want to exclude him from the fun that comes from the drive experience. Much thanks in advance!

It's my wife's car, and that's good because at 6-foot-7 I have no headroom or legroom. I can drive her XK8 for 30 minutes tops before my left knee, back, and neck start screaming at me to get out and stretch....
Hi Izy, It depends so much on his build, not just height and weight. I'm 6'3" and I had to put a spacer in the seat mount to move it back 2" because my legs are so long. Others, as you know, find that there head hits the top or is in the windstream. But I think these are very roomy compared to most GT cars.

But speaking of spacers, my wife is only 5'2" and about 110 pounds. The driver's seat is adjustable vertically, so she could raise it and get in a comfortable position to drive. But since the passenger seat was only adjustable fore and aft, she couldn't even see the hood of the car when sitting in the passenger seat. I made some one inch spacers out of square aluminum stock (aluminium for you Brits). I drilled a whole through the aluminum with a drill press and got some bolts that were an inch longer than the stock bolts. That raised my wife's seat up by an inch, which made it much more comfortable for her. Unfortunately, when I rode in the passenger seat I had to lean the seat way back to keep my head from rubbing the headliner.

I'm 5' 11" and find my 2005 XK8 convertible quite comfortable. The driver's seat is always back all the way. My legs are comparatively shorter than my torso, so I do have a bit of a problem seeing traffic lights when stopped right under them. Sometimes I have to lean forward over the steering wheel to see what's going on up there. (another reason to drive with the top down!)
I am 5'9" 195 lbs pretty much average size, and my XKR seems like it was custom made for my size. I like to drive with the seat all the way back and everything fits perfect. There is a little problem when the top is up getting into the car, but I usually have it down. In my younger days I would not have had any problems, but being an old codger it is sometimes hard to bend so you don't hit your head on the top. Once in the car it is very comfortable and a pleasure to drive.

Was 6' 2" and 250 till the doctors got a hold of me. Tina is 5'3" 110. Long trips are a joy but the in and out short trips take the fun out of it. Thank god for the memory mode. Its a nightmare after Tina's been driving, and that all of our vehicles. Jim
6'3", and I'm fine with the seat back & down. Losing a few pounds make getting in and out easier but that's a story for a different time. And I agree: the seats are über comfortable on long drives. Much more comfortable than my Avalanche or my wife's Mercedes.
OMG That sounds like punishment to drive the car do you find the passenger seat more comfortable? I plan on doing the driving and will let him relax as much as the car allows.
Interesting comment about the spacer. When my seat was slid all the way to the back, there was ZERO space between the back of the driver's seat and the front of the rear seat bottom. I don't see how a spacer could give you more leg room. Maybe the earlier seats didn't slide back as far as the later ones.

The question of modified seats and runners for taller owners has arisen from time to time.
Member Pickwick in Germany who has the later model 2007 XKR had his driver's seat recushioned with a lower profile and the seat mounting changed to accommodate his 1.98m (6'6") height.

Oh I didn't think about the dash being a problem on drivers side as well.

Most comfortable car seat I've ever experienced, too.
