I'm looking at a couple of XK8 coupes and that was my question since I'm 6'5" but 220lbs. But you are conformable once seated? Has anyone heard about rail extensions or seat lowering??

Sounds do-able then! Is it getting in and out or even seated that it's tight?

Someone has to do it. I'm 5'3" and proud. I weight 56 kilos, so about 123 lbs. Athletic build. I find that I have ample room in the front. So much so, that in my preferred position, my feet don't reach the footrest. (Happens in every car I get to drive) If I did move my seat enough so that it did, my thighs would be crushed under the dashboard. If I ever have passengers in the rear, they have cramped space for their legs, but at least they have space for their legs. I find that if I move my seat forwards about an inch when I have passengers in the rear they fit fine, so long as the roof is down, of course.

In the back I fit just fine, roof down. With the roof up I find myself ducking. I could imagine an Elise or a Miata would fit me like a glove.

6'3" and thin, no real trouble. Seat also pretty much all the way back but it might give another inch. Legroom, headroom (top up), shoulder room, everything is great for me. I also wish the bottom cushion tilted for a bit more 'glove-like' cocoon but close enough. Heaven indeed.

6' 1/2" 180 lbs with an un-athletic build.

XK8 fits fine, but seat is touching the rear jump seats when I adjust the recliner the way I like it.

LONGEST leg room of any car I've owned was a 1968 MGB. Tis true.

SHORTEST leg room of any owned (my wife's car) was a Mercedes 560 SL with the little rear seats. Whenever we took that car anywhere my wife had to drive.

6'3" , 34" inseam and 215 lbs. Legroom is okay, but the headliner is very close to the top of my head. My M Roadster is more roomy in the headroom, and I do agree about the early MGB's! They had a phenomenal amount of room for the overall size of the car!

Yes, that link regarding the seat runners goes nowhere. Please resend, as searching archives yielded nothing for me. Read about an aftermarket solution that supposedly gave another 15-20mm room, but cost more than €1,000. Doesn't seem worth that much.

That original post has disappeared because Pickwick was wrongly removed from the forum.

He has registered again as PercyPickwick and I'm sure will provide details of the seat modification as he's been active on the forum within the last month.

I've sent him a PM asking him to look at this thread.

6'2" 195lbs
I have a coupe - getting in and out takes a bit of an effort. However, once inside, it's all good and comfy. Rear seats are useless for passengers, so I move the front seat all the way back. I wish the seat was a bit wider though. In my preferred driving position, my derrière is sitting on thigh support cushions. I don't have a big butt at all, quite the contrary, but it still can use some extra sitting width. To that end (no pun intended), I prefer the BMW seats, which offer wider butt room by reducing the side bolster width.

I'm 6'4"/230#. I share the pain of driving more than a couple hours in my '98 'vert. I think I'm going to raise the front of the seat a bit to help. My bigger problem is the rearview mirror blocks about 3/4 of my vision to the right - has anyone tried relocating it to the top of the header trim?

I was 6'1" but time has taken it's toll and now I am 5' 10. So the secret is buy the XK8 and keep breathing and you will shrink to fit

I'm 6'1" and have to contort myself to get in and out with the top up, hence the reason I leave it down whenever I can. Still, I wish the seat was lower in the vehicle.

ROTFPMSL at your post Fulton.
I to am 6'1 180lbs reasonably athletic build at 58 years, have to say I experience no difficulty getting into the XK8. Just its a different matter when getting into my 1996 XJS, now that seating position is high and mirrors are a problem sides and rear. XK8 is a little high seating wise with about an inch spare travel and inclination just a little bit off straight up. Have to say the leather on the XK8 is no where as good as the XJS, however that may be due to the care lavished on it since I've had it, Gliptone is an amazing product.

Cheers,
ArtyH
