There’s a nice gold XK8 for sale in the UK on a well-known auction site. Currently advertised as ‘Jaguar XK8 4.0 Auto 32500 Miles, Immaculate Rust Free Example’.
However, one look at the advert pics of the underside shocked the bejesus out of me. This one has an engine under-tray!
This is an early 1997 example so I thought maybe under-trays were phased out?. A closer look at another underside pic shows a part number on something large and black plastic. At this point I’m thinking, ‘What else could it be?, what other black plastic is under the X100 ? This must be the under-tray.'
Using my electro-trickery zooming skills, I managed to read 2R83-9010-AC. Somewhat excited, I searched the part number and it comes up ‘2008 S-Type Fuel tank’. WTF ?
So this is what has happened. Someone is selling an XK8 and using the underside images of a much younger car (and not even the same model !) to make it look better.
Moral of the story is, don’t trust all advert pictures.
Odd one. Speedo calibrated in km/h and no UK MOT history prior to 2015 (but no corrosion reported), so may be imported:- perhaps CI?
Does look good, though.
Some interesting other stuff in the garage - Audi Quattro, Fiesta XR2 and an old Ford Thames/Anglia van

It's a Japanese import. Maybe he added the information after you looked.
Looks like a nice car even if he has mixed up some of the pictures.
