Hey folks

Finally the sun came out, the frost melted off and I got to do some car work. Number one on my list is to investigate the 'clunk' from the drivers' door window when it gets to the top 1cm of travel (and which also causes the auto up-down function to not work)

Popped the door card off and went to have a look. Nothing obvjous was wrong, so removed the whole motor/regulator /scissor assembly - there's a couple of teeth missing off the regulator, so there's my problem. Looks like the auto up/down function takes its toll there.

Unfortunately though these parts seem to be premium priced - up to £600 from jaguar.

Similar regulators for other cars (eg. XJ40) are around £80. What gives ?

Is there a known compatible alternative ?

Just for kicks you might see if you have any local fabrication shops that might have access to a water jet or laser machine. Get a hold of the sales man and see if they could fab you a new one. and for how much.

Cost break down would be, 1 draftsman, 1 programmer, 1 machine operator, 1 blank of material.

I have a friend who works at such a place I'll forward your picks and ask him his opinion.
