Default XK8 / XKR Air bag / crash sensors

Hey, can one of lovely 1996-2005 XK8 or XKR owners post me a few pictures in and around your air bag sensors, located under the bonnet, just in front of your radiator. I need to check out the wiring round that area and fit some sensors as mine are missing from my car since I owned it. Don't ask why too painful, just another job in my long list with this beast!!!

Cheers Pete

Haven't got a picture I can show you, but each sensor at the front should have its own 'natural' colored, four way connector, with three wires. The righthand one has Orange to pin 1, White/Blue to pin 2 and Orange/Green to pin 4. The lefthand one has Yellow/Blue to pin 1, White/Green to pin 2 and Orange/Yellow to pin 4.

Early production models had two Orange/Green wires to the righthand sensor that can be confusing. If you have that then say and they can be identified with a meter.

Thanks for that, I have the sensors, but what I don't have is the wring loom from just behind the bumper to plug them into and from there back to back to where ever it goes? If I could work out where the wires run back to I could work out if the wiring is there somewhere folded back or I need some more wiring loom, its my last major job to do on the car now since I bought it in 2014, the rest is purely superficial.

Pete,

There's a lot of differences between early 4.0 litre and later 4.2 litre supplementary restraint system components. Airbag sensors are not the same throughout the entire 1996-2005 range.

The reason we ask all members to add Model and Year details to their signatures is to get relevant advice.
