It's been a while since I did this, but you do need to remove the adjuster knobs and the escutcheons. Be gentle as there's lots of flimsy plastic stuff that will break.
You will also need to remove the rear seat back and cushion.
Some have managed without removing the front seats by simply folding them forward, but it's a squeeze to get the headliner out.
I find that it's like many of the jobs on this car: much of the effort is getting the obstructions out of the way. More time-consuming than difficult.
