Default XKR Spoiler Goof

I bought one of those $40 spoiler specials off ebay, it looked pretty good in the photo, but after placing it on the trunk a few different ways I really don't see how it will work.

Anyone know of any better spoiler options, either after market or would an OEM XKR spoiler from salvage work on the XK8 trunk lid? I've looked but can't find any decent pics of XKR spoilers close up.

Funny curve on the end...

Full length, good paint match...

Tape on deal, not sure how long that would last

Looks like I dun goofed and got my $40 worth, lol...

Skid
An original equipment XKR spoiler will fit. A couple of years ago there was quite a post about how a few members liked the after market spoiler but I don't know which spoiler it was. I know that the original spoiler is formed to fit the trunk contour.
Good Luck

That looks exactly like the spoiler for a X308 series. Maybe you should go back and check the listing.

Thanks RC. I have a line on an '05 OEM spoiler, not sure they will separate it from the trunk lid though. Will know soon. Tried a forum search for "aftermarket XKR spoiler" to find the one you were talking about, but couldn't get anywhere there or online. Found the '07 and later one for 487 pounds in England though.

The standard spoiler fits all X100s, the boot/trunk design was not different apart from some locating holes on the XKR, what you would do is cut off the pins on the spoiler, much easier than making holes in your boot lid.

I do a copy of the later 05 XKR spoiler, not the easiest things in the world to fit but they are not a lot of money (£75), alot cheaper than the OE item which is over $450.

I often fit the later type and sell on the earlier OE item but I do not have any at the moment, they remove very easy as they are just stuck on, if you can find an OE item it would be best

Wow, Keith, those look great! Don't know why I never saw those before. The '05-'06 one looks really good. Would the roof spoiler reduce that wind noise above 45mph from the rear window area in the coupes?

Thinking I may get that '05 one! Thanks!

Dont get me wrong but that does not look like a 05 factory style to me, its too small, looks more like the earlier model

This is what a proper one looks like...click HERE

Hi Tony! This is the '05-'06 XKR spoiler from Mina for $250 US, they say it fits all the XK8/R series trunk lids. If I read your post correctly, you said you sell this type spoiler on your own, but you're out of stock at the moment? I'm pretty sure I'm not going to find an OEM salvage spoiler for any less than your price, as I caculate about $125 US for yours, and would expect to pay about $200 US for a salvaged one. When would you be restocked?

Hmmm...I haven't noticed that wind noise in my coupe, Skid. Are your rubber bits around the back glass in good condition?

Yes, they seem to be. I've had two coupes, both had the same condition, this latest one a bit less. Lowering the antenna seems to help, but it's still there. Doesn't really bother me that much, have tuned it out after so many years. Was just curious.

Finally had some time with the car to ponder the spoiler, realized I could curve it and also have it stick, so I came up with this:

Funny thing is, I really do like it. Don't think it really does much aerodynamicly, but it lends a nice touch without being overdone.

Gotta do the hood louvers now for sure, haha.

Not to change the topic Skid Mark but what kind of exhaust do you have on your car; I really like the quad exhaust tips.

Looks like you should undo the refund then.

BTW, which vendor was it?

There are several that sell them both painted and unpainted. Looks like your vendor did a good job on the painting so it could be a good source. Especially for $40.

I agree about the refund. I'll give it a few days to make sure it stays down on the lid and refund the refund.

Here's the listing. The match was spot on. It came curved in half in a smaller box, so it takes some time to straighten it out. It will curve to follow the lid, but it's a wrestling match at first.

No problem Mark. Those are OEM off a 2005 XKR. Here's a thread about installation.
