XKR Value Going UP???
A link in an unrelated story led me to the Hagerty.com website where they purport to have their finger on the pulse of classic car values, so I looked up mine. I was aghast! On their chart, my 2002 XKR would be worth USD17,000 even if it were only in "Good" condition, and 12% more than when I bought it.
Does anyone think they are not balmy? Where culd they be getting such ideas?

Back in December I battled with our local county tax office to get them to reduce the tax value of my wife's 2006 XK8. They had it listed much too high. After getting to the right people and explaining the situation as well as providing some documentation, they reduced the tax value of her car by more than $3,000. That will save us some significant money on our annual property tax bill for this car, due by February 28th....
I just checked Autotrader and although I only found convertibles, the prices for XKRs of my year with mileage similar to mine are at about $24k using a Fort Wayne, Indiana zip code. I suspect a coupe like mine, which is rarer, should fetch a premium of a thousand or two over the convertible. It seems values ARE on the uprise.
That actually means the XKR I inherited is already worth more than the brand new Jeep Renegade I bought for $19k MSRP.
Prices seem to be all over the place. There's an '00 XKR convertible with 113,000 miles selling for $11,500 and an '06 Victory Edition Coupe selling for $29,000.
Here in PR, I think I might get away with selling my XKR for $26,000 if it were in mint condition. Cars over here always seem to sell at a premium over the mainland cars.
Currently there's an '06 XKR coupe in my area selling for $22k private party, whereas there's an '04 XKR convertible selling for $24k at a dealer. Both of these have higher mileage than my car by 40k and 20k mi respectively.
It is quite a difference from the $9k I sold my '00 XK8 convertible a couple years ago.
