XKR/XK* Navigation (Alpine)

My Nav system stopped letting me enter addresses. It would show POI but no streets or cities.
Jaguar was no help -bring it in and we will trouble shoot they said.
I was certain that the problem was 'firmware'. I'm a bit of a techie and when part of the system worked and part didn't I was certain that the DVD was OK.
I asked Jag how to reboot the Nav system - they didn't know.
So I went to eBay and bought an earlier version of the Alpine Nav software. I then inserted it into the Nav DVD player and the Nav system did a reboot as it is programed to do when a different version of the software is inserted into the Nav DVD player. It booted up and EVERYTHING worked.
I then ejected the earlier version and reinserted the 2005 version. It rebooted and EVERYTHING worked.
Jag probably would have done the same thing and charged me $400-500. The Nav DVD I bought on eBay for $100 and if anything goes wrong again I have the 'tool' to fix it.
