Jaguar XJ8 with Chevy LS1 Engine Conversion- now there is another option....

Description:
Here are a couple of pics of my latest project- a 1998 XJ8 with a Chevy LS1 engine conversion. The original engine went bad at 169k miles (pretty respectable for a 98), so this was another option to just putting the same old thing back in.

The powerplant is from a 1998 Camaro (all aluminum 5.7L LS1 V8 and 4 speed auto overdrive trans) and fits the car like it was made for it . I've been doing Jag conversions for years, and mechanically, this was one of the simplest ever. Nearly everything used was stock GM, including the new engine wiring (from the Camaro).

The car is now running and driving, and I've put on some 200 miles so far (city, highway, etc.,.). It's a fabulous driving car- same approx weight as the original 4.0, but tons more power and usable torque than before....

Still have some final wiring details to work out, but thought you'd like to see some pics....

Pretty ordinary- 1998 XJ8 with XJR wheels. Nothing special, until you open the hood......

As far as I know, this is the only LS1 powered XJ8 in the world (for the moment...)_

Kits and parts to do this very conversion will be available soon....
