Important: observe exactly the order and position of the two rubber bushings on the remaining lower shaft so you put them back in the same way. Pull up on the upper bushing and remove.

Twist the white retaining ring CLOCKWISE (about 1/8 turn) and pull straight up on the upper shift rod and remove.
