This photo shows where the original TVS was. You can see the burn spot where the leaked oil burned off and the stubs left from where I clipped the leads. The TVS was already split and that actually made getting the snips in there easier as I was able to bend up the two pieces and snip them both close to the bottom.

This is where I skinned off some insulation from the wires, close to the motor body. I shortened the leads on the new TVS, jammed them into the wire strands and soldered them in place.

I wrapped the repair with electrical tape and reinstalled the motor.
