I couldn't for the life of me get the face split from the barrel, so I ended up taking them to a tire shop near work. Also took the trim ring off.

All screws out, really almost no effort at all, M8 ("twin-screw" hex), NOT M7 like the bolts are mentioned everywhere online

blue wires go through a hole I drilled in the firewall to an on/off switch, black & grounded yellow go to the low level led (which is seemingly broken so I took it off). I am planning to have the low level light on the cowl, under the hood, like a nod to 60s & 70s outside gauges
