Default 1956 Mk1. heater motor repair.

1956 Mk1 restoration begining.
Desasembly of group components started. Heater box off. Cleaning of unit undeway.
Need to detach squirell cage from motor.
How does the cage's fastener detach. It seems to be frozen.
Can any one help? Has anyone ever unscrewed the nut from the cage.

post a picture to see how the cage is attached, one thing is certain, it wasn't "born" in place, so there must be a way to remove it. Start by soaking the shaft and nut with a product called "Numb Nuts", used by mechanics.

The cage is held on by a compression fitted bolt, very hard to get off. Soak it good. still soaking mine until I am ready for it.

I got lucky then after reading this. The collet fitting on mine came right off with no problem.
My nut was brass, once that was loose I could simply turn the squirrel cage to free it up and it slipped off.
